Champaca

Golden Peacock on the bough,
chants of virtue whispered now.
Crest of flame and tail so bright,
warded snares by sacred rite.

Hunters came with subtle art,
seventh sought the Peacock??s heart.
Feigned a mate to lure him near,
cast the net with guileful snare.

Bound at last, his song was stilled,
yet with mercy, truth was filled.
Hunter learned of lust??s decay,
set him free to soar away.
