Inspired by the “Tree King” in Ah Cheng’s novel
“Three Kings”, this work employs a variety of raw
materials from China to present two aspects of
the Tree King. One is the towering ancient tree
that has grown for a hundred years, with its
ancient bark exuding a fermented resinous
fragrance. The other is the simple mountain
keeper, with his large, thick hands bearing old
scars, his delicate knife and axe handling skills,
and his straightforward and fiery pure
temperament
